This is a proud moment for Somalia and for every Somali who believes in our digital future.
According to the International Telecommunication Union ICT regulation tracker, Somalia has made significant improvements in ICT regulation over the past 15 years, increasing from 0.0 points in 2007 to 77.5 points in 2024.
This statistic represents more than just numbers; it is evidence that Somalia can rebuild, regulate, modernize, and compete when the right systems are in place.
This progress should remind every Somali of our country's potential.
We have young people ready to innovate, businesses adapting to change, creators building online communities, telecom companies expanding access, and institutions gradually strengthening the digital foundation.
However, this achievement should not lead to complacency.
It should inspire us to strive for more.
We still require stronger digital infrastructure, improved internet quality, broader access to global digital services, enhanced payment systems, better digital education, and increased awareness of online safety, AI, and responsible technology use.
Technology is now essential, playing a crucial role in education, business, communication, governance, creativity, and national development.
If Somalia has progressed from 0.0 to 77.5 in ICT regulation, we can only imagine what can be achieved with serious investments in digital skills, innovation, startups, creators, cybersecurity, and infrastructure.
This milestone is worth celebrating, but it also serves as a reminder that the next chapter relies on all of us.
From recovery to digital growth, Somalia’s digital future is within reach.
Congratulations to Somalia and to everyone contributing to this progress.
