The biggest camera upgrade is a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, giving users more control over light and creative flexibility, alongside new Pro controls in the Camera app. Apple also introduced a redesigned thermal system with a vapor chamber offering three times more surface area than the previous generation, enabling up to a 40% gain in sustained performance for demanding tasks like gaming, video editing and AI workloads. Battery life improves too: eSIM-only models offer up to 36 hours of video playback on iPhone 18 Pro and up to 45 hours on iPhone 18 Pro Max, with fast wired and wireless charging. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 and the Pro Max at $1,299, both available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options, in Black, Silver, Glacier, and a new Burgundy finish, with pre-orders beginning September 12 and availability from September 18.

Apple redesigned parts of iOS 27 specifically around the foldable form factor, giving the larger inner display more room for multitasking and letting users interact with Siri AI while viewing other content on the other side of the screen, with Apple Intelligence deeply integrated throughout. Unlike the iPhone 18 Pro models, iPhone Duo uses Touch ID built into the side button, reflecting a broader rethink of controls for the foldable design. Its camera system includes a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera, with the foldable form enabling new shooting positions and orientations not possible on a traditional smartphone. iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage and in Star White or Night Sky, with pre-orders beginning October 16 and availability from October 23, shipping with iOS 27.1.
